Samuel Mikhail

Samuel Mikhail

Since he began his professional architecture career, Sam Mikhail’s passion for helping others has always guided his craft. He began with this journey when he participated as the student’s team leader in the 2011 Solar Decathlon RoofPod project at The City College of New York.

Since graduating, Sam has worked with over 40 architecture, design, and construction firms to implement BIM technologies. During that same time, he has accrued 12 years of teaching experience within the AEC industry. It was through these interactions with both architects and students that he learned valuable lessons about group dynamics, design processes and the obstacles to a full BIM utilization at a firm. As he taught professionals to transform their design ideas into delivered buildings, he developed the belief in optimizing the digital practice and formed the foundational Ideology and Methodology of 4 Ideal Design.

In addition to being Principal and Managing Director of 4iD, Sam’s work as a teacher is still the core of his passion and that is evident by his on-going role as an Adjunct Professor at The New York School of Interior Design. For the past 9 years, he has taught a variety of courses for undergrad and graduate students as well as continuing education courses for industry professionals. He teaches a wide spectrum of classes that span the traditional architecture skills, such as Hand Drafting, to the key software to advancing the digital practice - Intro and Advanced Revit, Construction Documents through Revit, Sketch-up, Adobe Suite courses, 3Ds Max and Revit for Lighting Designers.

Samuel is a licensed Architect and NCARB certified. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture, The City College of New York. He holds LEED BD+C accreditation and is an Autodesk Certified Instructor.

Susy M Mikhail

Susy M Mikhail

Susy graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture, The City College of New York.

After graduation, she quickly developed a passion for standards and guidelines that ultimately shaped her career. Her early years as a professional architect were profoundly influenced by the many diverse projects she executed. They were of varying types and sizes, and she worked through all phases of design. She found herself focused on optimizing the process of creating construction documents with the tools at her disposal. She watched the firms she worked at struggle to utilize the resources available and leverage software efficiency opportunities without losing design quality.

In 2016, Susy co-founded 4 Ideal Design with the synergy between 4iD’s guiding principle to optimize the digital practice and her vision to bridge the gap between the design and the technology worlds. She quickly embarked upon the vital role of working with firms to create great architecture consistently through development of effective standards and efficient workflows.  As her role of Services Director at 4iD, she oversees all client relations to provide customized solutions based on her industry experience and her ongoing study of the optimum use of software and tools.

In addition to her commitment to 4iD, Susy has continued to support up and coming architecture talent by teaching Revit in both English and Spanish. In a recent rewarding venture, she collaborated with a Technical School in Maryland to teach construction workers to read and understand construction drawings in Spanish.  She developed this successful class by creating the curriculum, teaching the students, and providing support to understand the technical language contained in the documents. Susy also teaches at the New York School of Interior Design. Her classes include Presentation Techniques using Revit and Enscape as well as Hand Drawing. Her passion to teach and optimize design continues to align with the mission and growth of 4iD. Her passion to teach and optimize design continues to align with the mission and growth of 4iD.

Susy is a licensed Architect in NY and VA, she is NCARB certified and holds a LEED GA certification.

Combined with her architecture and art background, Tania elevates her hand sketching, drafting, and painting skills by introducing digital practice and software. She is always striving to grasp the flexibility and malleability of these means and transfer them into the Digital and Technical Practice. As an immigrant and a woman, the path to a technical career is not easy but Tania is determined, her experience proves she has what it takes to excel in all aspects of the AECO industry.

Mary Manikis

Mary Manikis

Mary is well versed in the AECO industry; a licensed architect with over 10 years of experience on multiple project scales and types from programming through construction. Her project experience ranges from Residential, Commercial, K-12, Higher Education, and Institutional types.

Her experience along with her robust knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) makes her valuable member of the team. As a generalist she has a holistic interest in the AECO industry and truly enjoys both design and technology. She strives in practice to ensure technology is always supporting the design processes efficiently and effectively.

As an instructor she enjoys cultivating relationships with her students as she guides and watches them develop their BIM knowledge and skills. Working with multiple design firms has exposed her to unique perspectives which has informed her approach to a wide range of BIM workflows. She most enjoys creating solutions to complex design and documentation challenges. Her passion for teaching manifests in her goal to equip industry professionals with the digital skills and tools needed to thrive in today’s market.

Mary graduated with a bachelor’s degree at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture, at the City College of New York.

Tony Jin

Tony Jin

Tony graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture, The City College of New York.

Efficient, smooth, thorough, are just some of the few adjectives Tony strives for when creating new workflows and systems for anything he touches. Combine that with a desire to grow and mentor others makes Tony an excellent leader.

Throughout his career as a Designer, BIM specialist, BIM manager, Office manager, technology leader, and project manager, Tony not only knows the ins and out of Revit and other related BIM software, but he also understands them on a holistic level in the context of an architecture firm.

He possesses a deep technical understanding which he is also able to make it understandable to other, thereby elevating the whole team's performance. This however doesn't lift Tony's ego to the stratosphere as he knows that he's learned much from mentees as well. "We is stronger than me" is his motto and being a team player is in his nature.

Tony's past experiences at companies ranging from startups to the top 4 in the world has given him the flexibility and insight to various team structure and office dynamics. This widened perspective helps Tony integrate into various teams very well and is part of his "secret sauce."

Tony is not pursuing architectural licensure currently. He doesn't want to be a design architect but instead wants to keep his focus on the technology side of the industry, team training and workflows creating being the core.
